This is the trailer of our new project - Craft Van!
The purpose of Craft Van is to bring our services to those who can’t make it to our shop in Taipei. We will tour all several spots around Taiwan or overseas in the future! Meanwhile, we will also visit and talk to the craftsman during our trips. By doing this, we hope their crafts and experiences can be demonstrated and shared to more people around the world!
The first stop of Craft Van is Taichung. We moved our bench-re-built services from our brick-and-mortar shop in Taipei to Taichung by holding a shoe repair pop-up event! A great shout-out to those who joined us that day. It was a raining day, but you guys still came!
Besides, we also visited @aonohero.shoemaker ‘s Okinawa style restaurant and shoe-making workshop during our trip in Taichung. In 2023, Mr. Shinjo, who used to work at White’s Boots in Spokane, USA, for five years, moved from Japan to Taichung with his wife and cute daughter to start up their own restaurant and shoe-making workshop. In this April, we cooperated with Mr. Shinjo to develop a super cool boot made with traditional full-hand making techniques by Mr. Shinjo alone. You may also find a short interview between us and Mr. Shinjo.
The last stop at our Taichung trip, we went to a “last”factory. We will find out how the shoe lasts are developed and made. It was interesting to learn the making processes of something that we use everyday at work!
