SBR Sole/Sheet
Dr. Sole’s rubber sole is made of 100% of synthetic rubber, mainly SBR.
Synthetic rubber is one of the most traditional ways to produce soles and are still extensively used in today’s footwear industry. They are durable, anti-slip, and flexible; the main drawback is the heavier weight. When the thickness of the rubber sole goes beyond 5mm, the soles will become quite heavy. Therefore, unless the shoes are designed for certain specific purposes, such as work boots or hiking boots, the thickness of 100% rubber soles are usually kept between 3mm and 4mm for better durability and lighter weight.
In many cases, to prevent the overweight of thicker soles, lighter materials, such as EVA, are used as mid-soles and 3-4mm rubber outsoles are used to enhance the durability. Another way to solve the overweight of thick soles is to use foam rubber directly, which is also a lighter and softer option for thicker outsoles.
The dimension of Dr. Sole’s SBR rubber sheets is 60cm x 90cm. Customers can cut the sheets on their own based on their needs. The thickness and various colors and finishes can also be adjusted based on customers’ needs.
